Dark Skies Festival
Feb 18 – Feb 26 all-day
Dark Skies Festival @ North York Moors National Park | Helmsley | England | United Kingdom

Enjoy a guided tour of the night sky, focusing on objects in our solar system (the moon and other planets) as well as stars that reside far away from Earth within our Milky Way galaxy. View a range of constellations and the objects that reside within them, including deep sky objects such as nebulae, star clusters and galaxies. All attendees will get plenty of opportunities to view through our large telescope under some of the darkest skies in England in the heart of Dalby Forest.

We also have our indoor planetarium on standby so if the weather is poor and we can’t see any stars, or if we get very cold we can come inside and warmup, and enjoy a tour of the night sky and some immersive films about our solar system, galaxy and universe. This means we will only cancel an event if Dalby is inaccessible due to weather conditions.

– Various dates available throughout Festival. 7.30pm start. Events sell quickly so don’t delay booking!

This coastal walk starts and finishes in Robin Hoods Bay the busiest smuggling community on the Yorkshire coastline during the 18th century. With countless tales of thieves, rogues and smugglers, this makes for one of the most intriguing walking locations within the National Park.

For this walk we follow the old railway line towards Whitby before heading back to the Bay along the Cleveland Way, with thunderous waves below and amazing dark skies above, experience this beautiful section of the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline.

Reality suggests however that it was created over millennia by glacial meltwater. The path around the hole is on an earthwork dyke, which denotes a prehistoric boundary.

Whitby Gospel Music Convention @ Whitby Pavillion | England | United Kingdom

BIG, BIG changes are planned, and God has laid it on my heart to make no charge for a ticket for people to hear the gospel message through song or word. Anyone who has bought a ticket can either use it next year as a donation, or return together with a s.a.e. for a full refund, and decide when attending the event how much you can afford, when the offering is taken. The Holy Spirit will probably give you a figure in your heart, and you will follow His guidance!                                                    We are hoping that Jimmy Cricket will headline the Saturday matinee spot on 21st May 2022 . He is one of the sadly declining number of genuine, family friendly, really funny comics. jimmy is a commited Christian and loves to appear at events like ours at Whitby and Filey.  This seems a good time to once again offer our condolences to Yvonne and the rest of the family over the calling to Glory of Bobby Ball. Bobby was a loving Husband and Father, and he will be greatly missed by his family and also by hundreds of WGMC visitors. Dozens of people came to accept Jesus following his marvelous presentation of the Gospel. Following his altar call on his first appearance at WGMC, more people were saved than at any other gospel meeting in Whitby since the 19th Century. We have not yet made any plans for our Filey Briggfest event in August. With the WGMC cancelled it is maybe a good time to get a copy of our special boxed set listed below!

WE HOPE THAT THE FOLLOWING ARTISTES WILL BE APPEARING

JIMMY CRICKET

Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival

9th/10th/11th September 2022

We are delighted to announce that we plan to hold the next Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage on 9th,10th, and 11th September 2022. In the current circumstances there are a number of uncertainties set out below and we hope you will be understanding should we be forced to cancel the Festival once more.

Artist’s Applications

So much has changed over the last two years and we have no idea how much interest there will be among artists, to take part in the Festival this year. The artist’s fee of £250 is our main source of funding. It covers parking stewards, first aid, insurance and much more. Without it we would not be able to run the Festival. Applications open on 1st January 2022 and close on 31st April. We urge you to get your applications in as soon as possible so that we can judge if we have enough interest for 2022. We sincerely hope we will not have to cancel the Festival but if we are forced to do so we will of course refund all fees in full.

Covid

We plan to appoint a health and safety officer this year and will adopt a Covid secure protocol to ensure everyone is safe in 2022. If we are advised that the Festival cannot be made secure, or if a new variant arises or the situation changes nationally, we may be forced to cancel the Festival.

We sincerely hope that none of the above will arise and that everyone will come back so that we can make 2022 the best festival yet.

`One of Britain’s favourite Comics and a commited Christian`
ALAN KYME(Compere & Singer)
`Former Presenter with BBC Radio Lincoln`
DAN WESLEY
`BCMA Award winning Artiste`
>PAUL WHEATER
`Yorkshire’s Jim Reeves`
MICHAEL J. RAMPLING & FRIENDSS
`Very popular Group from Lancashire`
SAMUEL PURDY
`Country Gospel Singer and Praise Leader`
ROGER CARSWELL
`World famous Evangelist and Author`
THE AYRTON FAMILY OLD TIME GOSPEL GROUP
`Genuine old fashioned Gospel Music from the Bible Belt of England`
STOCKTON CITADEL S.A. BAND
`It wouldn’t be the same without them`
Starting Times

Saturday Morning – 10.30am (Doors open 10.20am)

Sunday Non-Denominational Service & Fellowship.

This will be rather like combining the Monday morning Coffee Morning with some preaching and a sing-along with Paul & some of the other artistes – 10.30 am.

This section will run to about 1.00pm, and will close this year’s event. (Various local churches will have evening services, usually starting at about 6.00pm)

`One of Britain’s favourite Comics and a commited Christian`
ALAN KYME(Compere & Singer)
`Former Presenter with BBC Radio Lincoln`
DAN WESLEY
`BCMA Award winning Artiste`
>PAUL WHEATER
`Yorkshire’s Jim Reeves`
MICHAEL J. RAMPLING & FRIENDSS
`Very popular Group from Lancashire`
SAMUEL PURDY
`Country Gospel Singer and Praise Leader`
ROGER CARSWELL
`World famous Evangelist and Author`
THE AYRTON FAMILY OLD TIME GOSPEL GROUP
`Genuine old fashioned Gospel Music from the Bible Belt of England`
STOCKTON CITADEL S.A. BAND
`It wouldn’t be the same without them`
Starting Times
